According
to the Britannica:
This American leader in the women's rights movement was born in 1815.
In 1848 she formulated the first organized demand for woman suffrage in the United States.
Her dad was a U.S. congressman and later a New York Supreme Court judge. In 1840 she married Henry Brewster Stanton, a
lawyer and abolitionist. In 1848 she circulated petitions that helped to secure the passage of a New York statute giving property rights to married women. In 1850 Stanton began an association with another outstanding suffragist, Susan B. Anthony, who managed the business affairs of the movement
while Stanton did most of the writing. They edited a women's-rights newspaper, the Revolution (1868-70), and, with Matilda Joslyn Gage, the
first three volumes of The History of Woman Suffrage, 6 vol. (1881-1922).
