Why the table? Last time I looked for a full listing of Independent
Countries and their Capital Cities it took me well over two hours to find a
satisfactory listing. So here's a full listing modified from a public
Department of State list. Please note, some simplifications have been
added. Traditional / historic capitals are listed. Where multiple
capitals are associated with a country, the administrative capital (where the
executive or president rules from) is listed. Some countries are listed by
individual major components (for ease of search). We hope this is of use to
you. The FIPS code is an international two letter postal code. Also
note, new state and names come into being all the time this list was based
on best available data as of 11/5/99. Please note: the countries and cities
are hyperlinked to automated book searches. Find
out what the latest books ( & city guides, restaurant guides, maps, tourist
information and so on) are for a specific country or city by clicking on the
link. note - sometimes the searches provide interesting
and unusual results (especially for uncommon names).
OK ... beyond country and capital cities
lists; its time for fun so check these
