YOU are using the Web... Find out how it came to be?
- Architects
of the Web : 1,000 Days That Built the Future of Business
- Robert H. Reid / Hardcover / Published 1997
This
book chronicles the dynamic history of the Web's creation and evolution and
its emergence as a tool for business. The creators of Mosaic, Yahoo!, and
HotWired are some of the innovators whose creativity and drive give this
book its dynamic focus. This book explores the Web as a fact and a
phenomenon, a catalyst of change, and a new medium of mass communication. If
you believe that the Internet is a culture, Reid's book will give you the
indispensable story of its founders, icons, and driving forces. Robert
explores the history of the Net from a business perspective--how a
communication system nominally built for national defense and in effect
taken over by education and research came to erupt as the most important
medium since television--and with greater speed and intensity than any
communication medium ever. Each chapter examines the Web's business
development through the story of one of its pioneers--including Marc
Andreeson of Netscape, Mark Pesce of VRML, Jerry Yang of Yahoo!, Halsey
Minor of CNET, and more. Its an exciting story of frantic activity in a
whirlwind environment and of the individuals who rode the tornado to
success. LISTEN THIS IS A MUST GET BOOK

WHEN U NEED A BREAK Spring OUT OF THE BOX: Find out about - Antigua and Barbuda, the island nation of the Lesser Antilles in the eastern Caribbean
Sea. A good place to start is --- with a picture book.
- Antigua
and Barbuda: A Photographic Journey
Dana Jinkins, et al / Hardcover / Published 1999
-Beautiful islands, rich in history, and one of the favorite yachting and
charter destinations of the Caribbean. Antigua and Barbuda are small islands
in the Eastern Caribbean, 27 miles apart but with one government. Populated
by Amerindians at the time Columbus sailed to the "New World,"
they were not settled by Europeans until the Earl of Carlyle claimed them
for England in 1625. Although independence was granted in 1981, evidence of
British colonial influence can be spotted everywhere. In addition to having
a rich history, illuminated by resident Desmond Nicholson's historical
essay, Antigua is well known as the yachting and charter center of the
Caribbean. One can cruise around Antigua and Barbuda for two weeks without
stopping at the same anchorage twice. Jill Bobrow and Dana Jinkins have been
coming to these islands for the past twenty-five years. This book is their
homage to them.
